VA Serve In Touble Again

August 7th, 2010

VA Serve, the cut price hosting company in the wars several years ago due to security and hacking problems, are at it again apparently.

A recent client of theirs is taking legal action over the “mis-selling”  of their hosting accounts.

The client had paid for a package that included an original Dell Server with 2 x SATA 250GB Hard Drives and when the server was continually having issues and downtime, it was discovered that VA Serve had only put in a 160GB SATA 1 drive, a situation that lasted 12 months.

When the client took them to task, the sales manager Vladimir Nescovic,  pleaded ignorance and said it was a simple mistake but the client believes it was an effort to reduce costs and win the business in the first place and basically this was a clear case of fraudulent mis selling.

Throughout the 12 month period the client experienced an incredible amount of problems and downtime, all noted in emails, and was told at one stage by Russell Foster, the then owner of the company, to take their business elsewhere for all he cared. (Foster has since left the company..surprised?)

At the time the client paid for the package VA Serve was owned by Blue Square Data who have since sold it to Namesco and Dada Pro, the owners of the POUNDHOST brand…all of which were probably unaware of the selling tactics of VAserve when they bought the VA serve comapny.

However, the client was offered a couple of months free hosting by poundhost  when all this came to light but as you can imagine, they have no interest in dealing with anybody associated with Neskovic and VA Serve and their underhand selling tactics..

So, a word of warning..in todays cut throat world of hosting, the cheapest is not always the best and if you have hosting packages, it pays to run a third party performance test on your server just to ensure that you have installed what you have paid for…you never know.
